What Does the Flag of Romania Mean?
The tricolour was first used in the 1848 revolution in Wallachia. Under communism it carried a state emblem in the centre; protesters cut that emblem out during the 1989 revolution, and the plain tricolour was restored days later. The colours are often linked to liberty, justice and fraternity.
