How to Play the Americas Flags Quiz
35 flags from Canada to Argentina, including the island nations of the Caribbean. Many are well known, which makes this the best regional quiz for beginners.
- Look at the flag. Three of the nine tiles start open.
- Guess the country. Every miss opens three more tiles and gives a hint: the continent, the main colours, then the first letter.
- Keep your run going. Solve it within three tries and move on to the next flag. Your best run is saved on this device.
Tips for the Americas Flags
- Blue–white–blue horizontal bands mean Central America: Nicaragua, Honduras (five blue stars) and El Salvador. Guatemala turns the bands vertical and adds a quetzal bird.
- Yellow, blue and red come from Gran Colombia. Colombia and Ecuador have a double-height yellow band (Ecuador adds a coat of arms); Venezuela has equal bands with an arc of eight stars.
- Argentina and Uruguay both carry the Sun of May. Argentina has three bands; Uruguay has nine stripes.
- Jamaica is the only national flag with no red, white or blue: a gold saltire on green and black.
- Dominica has a sisserou parrot and Belize is one of the few flags that shows people.
- Haiti is blue over red with a coat of arms. Liechtenstein, in Europe, is blue over red with a crown.
