How to Play the Middle East Flags Quiz
17 flags of the Middle East, from Egypt and Türkiye to Iran and the Gulf states. Most share a small set of colours, so the details decide every answer.
- Look at the flag. Three of the nine tiles start open.
- Guess the country. Every miss opens three more tiles and gives a hint: the continent, the main colours, then the first letter.
- Keep your run going. Solve it within three tries and move on to the next flag. Your best run is saved on this device.
Tips for the Middle East Flags
- Red, white, black and green are the Pan-Arab colours of the 1916 Arab Revolt. Jordan adds a seven-pointed star to the red triangle; Palestine has none.
- The United Arab Emirates puts the red band vertically at the hoist; Kuwait uses a black trapezoid.
- Red–white–black horizontal stripes: Egypt has a golden eagle, Iraq green writing, and Yemen nothing at all.
- Saudi Arabia is green with the Shahada and a sword. Iran is green, white and red with a red emblem and the Takbir repeated along the edges.
- Israel is the blue Star of David between two blue stripes, Lebanon a green cedar between red bands, and Cyprus a copper-coloured map of the island.
- Qatar (maroon, nine points) and Bahrain (red, five points) both have a white serrated band at the hoist.
